How to read the results

  • Ingredient lists run from the largest amount to the smallest, but ingredients at 1% or less, fragrance, and colorants can be listed in any order. So an ingredient’s position alone is not a reliable guide to how much is in the product.
  • A name that is not in our index is not a bad ingredient. It only means we have not covered it yet.
  • The same ingredient can come in different amounts and textures from product to product, so the research in our articles cannot be applied directly to a specific product.
